REMAIN VIGILANT-THE THREAT IS NOT OVER
The residents located near the burnt slope areas are highly encouraged to
remain vigilant throughout the rainy season. The danger of debris and mudflows
is not over and will continue to threaten neighborhoods for the next three to
five years. City and State erosion control measures (k-rail, sandbags, etc.)
will remain in place until it can be determined that the danger is over. In
addition, residents with debris and mudflow control measures such as sandbags
are reminded to leave these measures in place. While the City and the Orange
County Fire Authority continue to monitor the weather and the hillsides, residents
should always be prepared to evacuate at a moments notice during rainy weather.
ALERTOC (Often known as Reverse 9-1-1)
AlertOC is a mass notification system designed to keep Orange County residents
and businesses informed of emergencies and certain community events. By registering
with AlertOC, time-sensitive voice messages from the County or City in which
you live or work may be sent to your home, cell or business phone. Text messages
may also be sent to cell phones, e-mail accounts and hearing impaired receiving
devices. It is also commonly called Reverse 9-1-1, but this a registered
trademark.
To sign up for AlertOC, go to www.alertoc.com
and you will see a map of Orange County. Simply click on the City of Yorba Linda.
Once you are on the Yorba Linda screen, click on the appropriate option and
then fill out the required information. Once you have submitted the information,
the City and County will be better able to get the word out to you in an emergency.
The City encourages all of our residents to register!
