Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
The City of Yorba Linda, in conjunction with the Orange County Fire Authority, the City of Brea and the City of Placentia, has established a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) to educate people about disaster preparedness.
CERT is a volunteer organization that prepares people to assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. To get involved, take a free CERT training course!
The course will teach you the basics on how to prepare yourself, your family, and your community for emergencies. The following topics are covered during the course:
• CERT Organization
• Disaster Preparedness
• Disaster Medical Operations
• Limited Search and Rescue
• Fire Safety
• Disaster Psychology
• Terrorism Awareness
The course requires three days of instruction given by a certified professional in emergency management, as well as fire and police service representatives. The first two days entail classroom instruction and the third day will be a "hands-on" disaster simulation.
